Founded in Bedford in 1876 by Charles Wells himself, the company has a rich heritage of brewing great beers and running great pubs, and has evolved to become one of the market leaders in both by embracing change to remain competitive, whilst retaining its independence.
With a number of the Wells family still actively involved in the business, here at Charles Wells, we share the same passion for great beer and pubs as our founder did 140 years ago and believe we have some of the best of both. Striking the balance between tradition and progression , the Charles Wells Brewery line up spans from national favourites in the Bombardier, Young’s, McEwan’s and Courage ranges, through to inventive newcomers DNA and Young’s London Stout and world lagers Estrella Damm and Kirin Ichiban.
We also have a truly diverse estate of pubs, run on tenancy and lease agreements and, more recently, as managed houses too. Our focus on developing excellent pubs and offering licensees high quality training and support has earned the company several industry accolades including Publican Awards and Springboard Awards. More information about our beers, pub opportunities and the training and support we offer are available on our website at www.charleswells.co.uk.
