Family Brewers win Industry 'Oscars'
Tuesday, 7 April 2009
The Industry's biggest awards ceremony of the year - The Publican Awards - took place on 24th March. IFBB members won 9 out of a possible 19 awards, and received 3 Highly Commended accolades too.
The best in the business have been rewarded for their achievements at industry ‘Oscars’ The Publican Awards.
Top performing licensees and pub companies picked up their trophies in front of more than 1,500 guests at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House in Central London earlier this week, hosted by legendary entertainer Des O’Connor.
Run by leading trade publication The Publican, the awards celebrate the unique tradition of the British pub and recognises the fantastic people and companies behind these community and high street hubs. Judges include the editorial team, industry bodies, sponsors and city analysts.
David.Goulthorpe, Group Director, The Publican said “The quality of entries in this year’s awards was, arguably, the best ever and this makes winning an award a real accolade because of the excellent competition.”
Caroline Nodder, Editor of The Publican, said:
“Without doubt the pub trade is facing enormous pressure from legislation, tax, the deepening recession and irresponsible behaviour. Yet despite this, good pubs are still very much part of the social fabric of local communities. The Publican Awards supports and showcases the very best British pubs have to offer. These pubs have the balance right; great people, great value and great service. Pubs form the beating hearts of their communities, a support network for their customers, a refuge in the current credit crunch storm and a great economic and social asset to this country.”
