About the IFBB
Supporting the Family Owned Breweries
The IFBB was bought together in 1993 and the group of 28 brewers who form the IFBB represent a distinct and unique sector of the UK brewing industry - the family owned brewery.
Supporting Cask Ale Brewing
Our group of brewers were bought together to maintain the traditions of cask brewing in Britain, to be positioned as the ‘custodian’ of the cask ale category and to continue to support and promote this healthy, profitable and vibrant sector of the industry.
The IFBB in Figures
Today the IFBB members own a pub estate amounting to over 4,500 pubs (24% managed and 76% tenanted). We provide full and part time employment for over 41,000 people.
Between us, we produce around 6% of all of the ale produced in Britain, spread across 453 brands (286 of which are cask conditioned and 178 are seasonal brands). Sales account for some 35% of all the cask ale sold in the UK each year and in 2006, the IFBB produced 2,090,264 barrels of ale of which 932,152 barrels were cask ale.
Supporting Regionally Brewed Ales
Our pubs are at the hub of the communities in which we serve. We produce distinctive, regionally brewed ales and support regional suppliers through the use of locally sourced ingredients.
While our breweries have been family owned and run for many generations, our businesses are dynamic and innovative, constantly developing new products and brands.
